Social Work
Thank you for visiting the University of North Dakota Department of Social Work website. We offer a graduate (MSW) and undergraduate (BSSW) degree in social work. Both programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Please browse our site to secure information for current and prospective students, as well as field instructors and other social work practitioners. The site also offers information about exciting student and faculty activities, research efforts, and links to other university services. This site has been designed to be informative – to get you to the information you need with relative ease.
Because our students succeed in a rigorous academic setting, they are highly recruited by employers in North Dakota, South Dakota, and the western regions of Minnesota. Additionally, the Distance MSW Program serves students throughout the United States with recent graduates and students from 33 states.
The Department of Social Work is in the top 25% in the total number of students enrolled in undergraduate programs at UND and the top 15% in the total number of students enrolled in graduate programs at UND. The Distance MSW Program has been ranked number six in the nation by TheBestSchools.org. We have a strong presence on campus and in the external social work practice community with agencies contracted to provide field education to our students throughout the region.
The Department of Social Work at the University of North Dakota activities are guided by its mission statement "to advance knowledge and learning and to prepare competent, responsive, and ethical social workers who empower vulnerable populations, promote social justice, and are committed to serving diverse populations".
I am proud to represent the Department as a faculty member along with our 16 exceptional social work educators. The Department also has talented adjunct faculty and quality field instructors who assist in assuring an exceptional program.
