Nursing Students at Health Fair

The baccalaureate program of the University of North Dakota College of Nursing provides a sound background of liberal education, preparation in all basic areas of clinical nursing practice, and a solid foundation for graduate education. Our graduates receive the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree and are eligible to take national board examinations (NCLEX) for registered nurse licensure (RN). The University of North Dakota Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and are approved by the North Dakota State Board of Nursing. Since the College of Nursing strives to reflect current trends in the nursing profession, there may be on-going changes in the curriculum.

The UND College of Nursing is innovative and robust, offering a number of offerings which lead to a BSN.

  • Traditional on campus program: Currently the largest program, it is typically filled with students who come to UND as freshmen or transfer students without a previous bachelor's degree or RN license. Length - Four Years.

  • BAC-2 or Accelerated Program: A bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing is required. Once admitted to the program, students complete in four academic terms - three semesters and a summer. Courses are offered through Distance Education but students are required to attend on campus.

  • LPN to BSN program: Students who are licensed practical nurses may complete prerequisites and apply for admission to the traditional on campus nursing program, completing in less time and/or fewer credits per term. Courses are primarily on campus.

  • RN to BSN program: Students who are registered nurses with a diploma or associate degree in nursing and who wish to attain a BSN may apply to this program. It is completed online utilizing distance education technology.

  • RN to MS program: Students who are registered nurses with an associate degree in nursing and who wish to attain a Master's degree without ever completing a BSN may apply to this program. It is completed online utilizing distance education technology.
