The difference between a good school and an excellent one increasingly depends on its ability to attract outside funding. Although UND is a state institution, the state does not provide all of the funding, nor the high level of funding needed for the CON to become the premier college of choice for nutrition, dietetic and nursing students.
The UND College of Nursing is dedicated to providing that margin of excellence which is so essential in training tomorrow's healthcare leaders. We urge you to think about the level of support you can provide in order to help us achieve that excellence.
Your gift, no matter how large or small, can make a difference. Please consider making a gift to the priority area YOU believe is most important.
How you can support the College of Nursing
In order to advance our mission of educating students, promoting research and serving the community's health care needs, we have established the following priority needs:
Student Scholarships
The increase in tuition and fees for students has resulted in students needing to work part-time jobs to afford an education. In addition to the classroom work, nursing and nutrition students also have clinical experiences as part of their program, decreasing the amount of time available for projects and reports outside of the classroom. The College has several scholarships that provide support, and by offering additional monies we will be more effective at attracting the best and brightest students. View a list of existing scholarship endowments you can support or learn how you can create your own scholarship endowment.
Clinical Simulation Learning Center
The College of Nursing is faced with the challenge of keeping its resource centers stocked with the proper equipment. Simulation equipment, clinical learning equipment, food lab supplies, and reference materials are only a portion of the support students receive. Funds will update the resources to provide a stronger and more advanced student learning experience.

Faculty and Student Research
Research is a focus of both UND and the College of Nursing. Faculty members are engaged in research focusing on a variety of clinical areas. Both graduate and undergraduate students are mentored by working with faculty in their areas of research. Funds will strengthen areas such as office support, projects, networking, dissemination of findings, and statistical consultation.

Facility Improvement
The Nursing building has been the home for the College since 1976, but the space is no longer adequate. With the increased priority on research, the master's and doctoral programs, and an increased demand for technology we have run out of space. Faculty are sharing offices, which in turn compromises student interaction. Improving the educational and working facilities allows the College to expand its current facility to adequately meet our needs.
College of Nursing Annual Giving Program
This Program supports a wide range of resources designed to support enhanced learning, including:
- Equipment and teaching materials
- Classroom and laboratory renovations
- Expanded educational opportunities for students and alumni
- Student and faculty travel for research
Because the Program supports an "unrestricted" fund, it enables the College to meet needs as they arise - allowing students to attend a conference, replacing broken equipment or providing emergency scholarship funds. It is this flexibility and responsiveness to student needs that allows the UND College of Nursing to provide that margin of excellence for its students.
